Kentucky Kingdom Visit Recap: A Calm Return, Flying Fox Flights, and the Final Wheels in the Wild Show - June 27th, 2026

After the Floral Frenzy 5K was canceled due to weather, I still decided to make my way over to Kentucky Kingdom later in the day once the rain had stopped. Since it had been a little while since my last full visit, I felt this was the perfect chance to check in on Flying Fox, see how the area was coming along, and hopefully catch one last performance of Wheels in the Wild before more rain moved back into the area.

Nick from Rebel Coaster Events also mentioned that he would be at the park, so it worked out to be a great opportunity to meet up, enjoy the evening, and make the most out of a day that definitely did not go as originally planned.

One of the first things I noticed when I arrived was just how calm the park felt. Compared to some of my earlier visits this season, Kentucky Kingdom seemed much quieter and less chaotic. You could tell that the earlier rain likely caused some guests to leave early or decide not to come at all. There was a company picnic taking place, so a big portion of the crowd seemed to be connected to that event, but even then, the park still had a very relaxed atmosphere overall.

As the evening continued, the crowd started to thin out even more as more weather looked like it might move back in. Even with that, it made for a really nice visit because it gave the park a slower pace that honestly felt refreshing.

Of course, one of the main things I wanted to check on was Flying Fox. I had really been wanting to get back over to that area, both to see how the ride was operating and to take a closer look at how the surrounding section was developing. I’m happy to say I was able to get three rides on Flying Fox, and it absolutely did not disappoint.

Flying Fox continues to be such a fun addition to Kentucky Kingdom. It has a unique layout, a great sense of motion, and it is just a really enjoyable ride experience. After wanting to get back on it for a while, it was nice to finally spend some time in that area again and really take it all in.

While Flying Fox was one of the major highlights of my visit, the other big reason I stayed was to catch the final performance of Wheels in the Wild for the season. I honestly felt very honored to be there for the last show. The performers really seemed to be in great spirits, and you could tell they wanted to make sure everyone in attendance got a memorable final performance.

What I have really loved about Wheels in the Wild all season is that it has been more than just a stunt show. It tells a full story, mixes in comedy, and keeps the action moving in a way that makes it fun for all kinds of guests. The performers also do such a great job interacting with the audience, which made every show feel a little different and gave it its own personality each time.

It is honestly hard for me to choose just one favorite moment from this final performance because the show had so many fun moments packed into it. From the tricks and stunts to the humor and the character interactions, there was always something happening that kept the crowd engaged.

The weather may have kept the audience a little lighter than usual, but those who were there really seemed to enjoy the show. I’m not even sure everyone realized it was the final performance of the season, but the energy from the performers still made it feel special.

One thing that really stood out to me was how much more polished Wheels in the Wild felt compared to earlier in the season. I had heard that the cast did not get to do as much dress rehearsal as they would have liked because of weather issues early on, so it was really neat to see how much the show had grown. As the season continued, the performers seemed to get even more comfortable, more interactive, and more confident in how they brought the story and action together.

That growth really showed during this final performance.

The good news is that while Wheels in the Wild may have wrapped up for the season, Kentucky Kingdom has already announced its next stunt show: Thrill Chasers, which is scheduled to run from July 2, 2026 through August 2, 2026.

After seeing how much talent and energy the Wheels in the Wild team brought to the stage, I am genuinely excited to see what they do next. I’ve found out that performers from Wheels in the Wild will also be part of Thrill Chasers, and that even more performers will be added. That makes me even more excited because if this new show builds on what we already saw this season, it could be something really special.

I am especially looking forward to seeing what new action-packed stunts the team will bring to the new production. If Wheels in the Wild was any indication, Thrill Chasers should be a show worth watching.

Overall, even though my original plans for the day changed because of the weather, I’m really glad I still made the trip to Kentucky Kingdom. I got to check in on Flying Fox, enjoy three great rides, see the area continuing to improve, and experience the final Wheels in the Wild performance of the season.

A big thank you goes out to the performers and team behind Wheels in the Wild for putting together such a fun, entertaining, and memorable show this season. You could really see the passion and effort they brought to every performance.

Now I’m looking ahead to Thrill Chasers and to more summer visits at Kentucky Kingdom. If you have not made it out to the park recently, now is still a great time to visit, enjoy Flying Fox, and catch everything the park has going on this summer.

Thanks for following along with Theme Park Report, and I’ll be back soon with more park updates, photos, and coverage.

Why Flying Fox Could Be a Big Moment for Kentucky Kingdom

Flying Fox brings a whole new energy to the front of Kentucky Kingdom. Kentucky Kingdom is getting ready to open Flying Fox on May 28, and in my opinion, this new coaster feels like more than just another ride addition. It feels like a statement about where the park is headed next. Flying Fox may not be the biggest or most extreme coaster in the park, but that is exactly why it matters. It adds something Kentucky Kingdom truly needed: another family-friendly coaster that still looks fun, exciting, and full of energy. As someone who has followed this project from concept art to construction and now to the finished ride, it has been really exciting to watch it all come together. One of the things I like most about Flying Fox is how compact the layout is while still looking full of movement. The ride twists through the area with lots of turns, close interactions with the pathways, and multiple moments where guests can watch the coaster flying overhead. That alone makes it feel live...

Kentucky Kingdom Opening Weekend 2026: A Rough Start, But Signs of a Stronger Season Ahead

Even with the chaos of Opening Day, it still felt good to be back at Kentucky Kingdom. When I first arrived at Kentucky Kingdom on Opening Day, I was honestly shocked by how many people were lined up at the front gate. There were multiple long lines waiting to get inside, and it was immediately clear that attendance was stronger than it had been for 2025’s opening. Even before stepping fully into the park, you could feel the excitement in the crowd. Everyone seemed to be taking in the new entrance plaza updates, the moon rock fountain, the bright green Flying Fox track crossing over pathways, and the general buzz of a new season beginning. Opening Day crowds were noticeably larger than last year, and the excitement at the front gate was easy to feel. Once I got inside, the park had a strong energy. The atmosphere felt upbeat, the music was pumping throughout the midway, and guests seemed genuinely happy to be back. At the same time, it did not take long to notice that operations...

Holiday World Platinum Passholder Preview Day 2026 Recap

Walking through the gates for Platinum Passholder Preview Day felt like the perfect start to the 2026 season. Holiday World’s Platinum Passholder Preview Day was an amazing way to kick off the 2026 season. From the moment I walked up to the entrance gates, I could not wait any longer to get inside. As soon as I entered the park, picked up my Platinum Season Pass magnet, and took in the entrance plaza, I felt like I was in paradise. All the stress I had been carrying around in my mind disappeared. For a few hours, it was all relaxation, fun, and the simple joy of being back at one of my favorite places. Even though it was raining off and on when I arrived, it did not take away from the day at all. If anything, it made finally being back feel even more special. After taking a few photos and videos around the entrance plaza, I headed into St. Nick’s Trading Company to see all of the new merchandise for Holiday World’s 80th Anniversary season, and that was one of the first big highl...
