The decorations and landscaping also immediately caught my attention. Holiday World added small but noticeable new details throughout the park, including refreshed flowerbeds, new mulch, and colorful plantings that I know will look even better as the season goes on. Those kinds of improvements may seem small, but they add so much to the experience and make the park feel fresh and cared for.
Fresh landscaping and flowerbeds were one of the first improvements that stood out to me.
Another big positive from the day was the staff energy. Everyone I encountered, from the front gate team to the shops, food stands, and ride crews, was friendly and happy to help. Being welcomed back for another season as my pass was scanned really meant a lot to me. Little moments like that help set the tone for the whole day. I was also impressed by how clean the park looked. The bathrooms were spotless, tables were being wiped down quickly after guests left, and team members were actively sweeping and cleaning throughout the park.
As for rides, I was able to experience all of the coasters, with some of them getting repeat rides thanks to the lighter crowds. I think the weather probably helped keep attendance down a bit, which worked out nicely for those of us there. I also got to ride several flat rides I always enjoy, including Firecracker, Liberty Launch, Turkey Whirl, and Rough Riders Bumper Cars.
The standout ride of the day for me was definitely The Voyage. It felt like it was absolutely flying this year, and it was the coaster we rode four times during the visit. I was also very impressed with the new track work Holiday World completed on The Raven. The ending of the ride felt much smoother, and I think that is going to make a noticeable difference for guests all season long. Of course, getting that first launch of the year on Thunderbird was a lot of fun too. It had been since Halloween season, so feeling that launch again definitely woke me up.
The Voyage absolutely stood out on Preview Day and felt like it was flying.
One of the most exciting parts of the day was seeing the improvements and updates around the park. Some flat rides had fresh paint, buildings looked newly refreshed, and there were noticeable changes to pathways and landscaping. I also saw new food signs throughout the park highlighting popular menu items and new additions at certain food stands. The park already looked great, but these little improvements helped make everything feel even more polished heading into the season.
Updated pathways and refreshed areas gave parts of the park a noticeably cleaner look.
New visual touches around the park added to the feeling that Holiday World is keeping things fresh for 2026.
The 80th Anniversary merchandise was another major highlight. There was a lot of new merch released this year, both for the anniversary celebration and for the park and coasters in general. I really loved the 80th Anniversary display in St. Nick’s Trading Company, and I ended up picking up an 80th Anniversary limited-edition collectible coin along with a couple of anniversary T-shirts. I am a big fan of collecting milestone items from Holiday World, so finding those made the day even more memorable.
The 80th Anniversary merchandise display was one of my favorite things to check out early in the day.
I also got to try one of the new food items for the season: the Funnel Cake Flight from Freedom Funnel Cakes. That was something I had been curious about, and it was fun to try something new right away. I also grabbed a slice of pepperoni pizza, which may not be new, but it is always a must for me when I visit Holiday World.
The new Funnel Cake Flight was one of the food items I was most interested in trying on Preview Day.
Holiday World also rolled out fun themed food items for the 80th Anniversary season.
Another surprise from the visit was getting a better look at the construction progress for Holiday World’s new 2027 attraction. I was honestly shocked and excited by how much work had already been done. From The Voyage, I could see what looked like the possible station area, what may be two side-by-side water ride troughs, and some kind of bridge and ramp combination for a pathway. The construction fence is still designed to block most direct views, so riding The Voyage was really the best way to spot progress.
Preview Day also gave a glimpse at some of the other things guests can look forward to this year. I noticed promotion for Rubber Duck Days, and I think that will be a fun addition to the season. I am also excited about Summer Wine’d Down Culinary Festival, Holidays in the Sky, and the return of Friday Night Live!. Based on what I saw, there is a lot for guests to look forward to beyond just the rides.
Convenience updates like mobile ordering are another nice improvement for the guest experience.
One thing I want to mention is that some of the coasters did have a few issues during Preview Day. Whether it was operator-related or just early-season ride hiccups, that is exactly what preview events are for. These days exist so the park can work through those small issues before full public operations begin, so I never let it bother me. If anything, it just reminded me why passholder preview events are valuable.
At the end of the day, Preview Day made me even more excited for Holiday World’s 2026 season. The park looked fantastic, the atmosphere felt special, the staff was wonderful, and there were enough new details, food offerings, merchandise, and seasonal event teasers to make it clear there is a lot to look forward to this year.
My favorite moment of the day was really a mix of things: riding The Voyage four times, feeling Thunderbird’s launch again for the first time this season, finding the 80th Anniversary collectible coin, and just being back in the park with friends. Even though the day went by way too fast, it reminded me exactly why Holiday World means so much to me.
Preview Day was the perfect reminder of why I always love coming back to Holiday World.
If Platinum Passholder Preview Day was any indication, Holiday World is set up for a fun and memorable 2026 season. I am grateful for the chance to experience the park early, and I cannot wait to see how everything continues to grow and unfold in the weeks and months ahead. If you are planning a visit this year, I would definitely say there is a lot to be excited about.
