Holiday World: A Place Full of Family Memories

Holiday World has meant a lot to me for many years, but I would say it truly became special to me back in 2006 when my mom first introduced me to the park. We visited in the spring that year, and after that first trip, we kept going back again and again throughout the season. What started as a visit quickly turned into something much bigger. It became a place filled with memories, excitement, and quality time with family.

My very first season visiting Holiday World in 2006

I had already been a theme park and roller coaster fan before that, but Holiday World felt different from anything I had experienced before. There was just something special about it. From the rides to the atmosphere, it immediately stood out to me as a place that was not only exciting, but also welcoming and full of heart. A huge part of that came from experiencing it for the first time with my mom, who quickly turned me into a Holiday World fan for life.

The person who gave me the Holiday World bug — my Mom.

Some of my favorite Holiday World memories are simply the years of getting to spend time there with her. Those visits gave us so many great mother-son memories together. I will always remember stopping for photos around the park, seeing how happy she was, and watching her get excited for some of her favorite attractions. One that always stands out is the Hallowswings, which has long been one of her all-time favorite rides. I also remember her wanting to get me on The Voyage for the first time, and how much she loved it herself. Moments like that meant the world to me because it was not just about the rides. It was about seeing her enjoy life and getting to share that time together doing something we both loved.
A memory I will always cherish — riding The Voyage with my Mom

Over the years, Holiday World became more than just a place to visit. To me, it represents a place where families can relax, unwind, and spend a fun day together. It is the kind of park people return to year after year until it becomes part of their family tradition. That is exactly what it became for us. As the years went on, I got to see the park grow while also building memories there that I know I will never forget.

Another thing that has always stood out to me is the way Holiday World feels the moment you walk through the gates. The staff has always been so friendly and welcoming, almost like you are part of the family the second you arrive. I have also always appreciated how clean and beautiful the park is. Those things may seem small to some people, but they are part of what makes the overall experience so special and why the park still means so much to me today.

Holiday World has given us years of memories together.

Now, what makes it even more meaningful is that our family has grown. I became an uncle, and my niece and nephew are starting to get to that age where I can bring them along and help them begin making memories of their own. That is something I am especially excited about, because it feels like I now get to help pass along the same love for Holiday World that my mom gave to me. I cannot wait to share my stories with them over the many seasons to come and to watch them fall in love with the park in their own way.

As for this upcoming season, I am especially excited to see what Holiday World has in store for its 80th Anniversary season. I keep hearing that this will be a season fans will not want to miss, and that makes it even more exciting. There is definitely a lot to look forward to, and I cannot wait to be back in the park making even more memories.

At the end of the day, Holiday World means so much to me because it has given me more than just great rides and attractions. It has given me memories with my mom, years of family tradition, and a place that has continued to feel special every time I return. That is why it will always hold such an important place in my heart, and why I am so excited for the memories still to come.

Why Flying Fox Could Be a Big Moment for Kentucky Kingdom

Flying Fox brings a whole new energy to the front of Kentucky Kingdom. Kentucky Kingdom is getting ready to open Flying Fox on May 28, and in my opinion, this new coaster feels like more than just another ride addition. It feels like a statement about where the park is headed next. Flying Fox may not be the biggest or most extreme coaster in the park, but that is exactly why it matters. It adds something Kentucky Kingdom truly needed: another family-friendly coaster that still looks fun, exciting, and full of energy. As someone who has followed this project from concept art to construction and now to the finished ride, it has been really exciting to watch it all come together. One of the things I like most about Flying Fox is how compact the layout is while still looking full of movement. The ride twists through the area with lots of turns, close interactions with the pathways, and multiple moments where guests can watch the coaster flying overhead. That alone makes it feel live...

Kentucky Kingdom Opening Weekend 2026: A Rough Start, But Signs of a Stronger Season Ahead

Even with the chaos of Opening Day, it still felt good to be back at Kentucky Kingdom. When I first arrived at Kentucky Kingdom on Opening Day, I was honestly shocked by how many people were lined up at the front gate. There were multiple long lines waiting to get inside, and it was immediately clear that attendance was stronger than it had been for 2025’s opening. Even before stepping fully into the park, you could feel the excitement in the crowd. Everyone seemed to be taking in the new entrance plaza updates, the moon rock fountain, the bright green Flying Fox track crossing over pathways, and the general buzz of a new season beginning. Opening Day crowds were noticeably larger than last year, and the excitement at the front gate was easy to feel. Once I got inside, the park had a strong energy. The atmosphere felt upbeat, the music was pumping throughout the midway, and guests seemed genuinely happy to be back. At the same time, it did not take long to notice that operations...

Holiday World Platinum Passholder Preview Day 2026 Recap

Walking through the gates for Platinum Passholder Preview Day felt like the perfect start to the 2026 season. Holiday World’s Platinum Passholder Preview Day was an amazing way to kick off the 2026 season. From the moment I walked up to the entrance gates, I could not wait any longer to get inside. As soon as I entered the park, picked up my Platinum Season Pass magnet, and took in the entrance plaza, I felt like I was in paradise. All the stress I had been carrying around in my mind disappeared. For a few hours, it was all relaxation, fun, and the simple joy of being back at one of my favorite places. Even though it was raining off and on when I arrived, it did not take away from the day at all. If anything, it made finally being back feel even more special. After taking a few photos and videos around the entrance plaza, I headed into St. Nick’s Trading Company to see all of the new merchandise for Holiday World’s 80th Anniversary season, and that was one of the first big highl...
