HalloScream Returns to Kentucky Kingdom this October 2019

This October, Kentucky Kingdom will present HalloScream – Kingdom of Fear, produced and directed by Oak Island Creative.

Ed Hart, President and CEO of Kentucky Kingdom, said: "We are very excited about partnering with Oak Island Creative, a company that has developed award-winning themed events for nationally recognized clients. Their events have received many acknowledgments in USA Today, on Fox News, and in other major media outlets. What’s even more exciting is that Oak Island is a local company, headquartered in Louisville. They are dedicated to creating a Halloween event unlike anything Louisville has seen before and they’re certainly the people to do it.”

Hart went on to add, “It’s been a long time since Kentucky Kingdom has been open to the public for a nighttime event. It’s a special experience to see the park lit up at night and especially to enjoy the coasters and other rides at night. Kentucky Kingdom has always been known for its thrills, but HalloScream will take those thrills to an entirely new level.”

A large area of the park will be dedicated solely to HalloScream and its unique attractions. Primary among them are two original and unique haunted houses: “Die Laughing – A Clown Funeral” and “Zombie Wasteland.”

More than 100 performers will participate in HalloScream, which also includes the following attractions:

  • Bizarre Bazaar - A Fear Market: An immersive retail environment of bizarre finds and gruesome gifts. Don’t miss the photo ops at the selfie stations of screams!

  • Frank N. Stein’s LaBARatory: Find a cure for what “ales” you as you enjoy Dr. Frank’s mad science concoctions served in bubbling beakers and test tubes.

  • Mardi gRAVE: A block party of voodoo-inspired despair where a demonic DJ spins sick and twisted tunes and where everyone will dance till they drop … dead!

  • BARely Alive: Come have a drink and hang with the undead of HalloScream.

Kentucky Kingdom will be open for HalloScream every Friday, Saturday, and Sunday in October, from 6:00 p.m. till midnight (closing time on Sunday is 11:00 p.m.). Most of the park’s rides, including its signature coasters, will be open. (Because of the time of year, all water attractions will be closed.) In addition, Kentucky Kingdom’s 5D Cinema will feature a 12-minute horror fest, consisting of 13 especially terrifying scenes from the “Friday the 13th” films.

Tickets to HalloScream cost $29.95 and may be purchased online (kentuckykingdom.com/halloscream) or at the theme park. Beginning September 16, they will also be available at area Kroger stores. The $29.95 tickets include admission to the park and its rides, as well as one free admission to each haunted house. The HalloScream attractions are recommended for children age 13 or older.

Julie Johnson, Vice President of Sales and Admissions for Kentucky Kingdom, stated, “We are pleased to offer all 2019 season pass holders free admission to HalloScream. However, they will need to pay a $10 admission charge to each haunted house. For the best value, I suggest purchasing a 2020 Kentucky Kingdom season pass. They’re on sale now for the early bird price of $59.95 and they provide free admission to HalloScream 2019, one free entry to each haunted house, and, of course, the opportunity to enjoy all of Kentucky Kingdom’s rides and attractions all summer long next year.”

Why Flying Fox Could Be a Big Moment for Kentucky Kingdom

Flying Fox brings a whole new energy to the front of Kentucky Kingdom. Kentucky Kingdom is getting ready to open Flying Fox on May 28, and in my opinion, this new coaster feels like more than just another ride addition. It feels like a statement about where the park is headed next. Flying Fox may not be the biggest or most extreme coaster in the park, but that is exactly why it matters. It adds something Kentucky Kingdom truly needed: another family-friendly coaster that still looks fun, exciting, and full of energy. As someone who has followed this project from concept art to construction and now to the finished ride, it has been really exciting to watch it all come together. One of the things I like most about Flying Fox is how compact the layout is while still looking full of movement. The ride twists through the area with lots of turns, close interactions with the pathways, and multiple moments where guests can watch the coaster flying overhead. That alone makes it feel live...

Kentucky Kingdom Opening Weekend 2026: A Rough Start, But Signs of a Stronger Season Ahead

Even with the chaos of Opening Day, it still felt good to be back at Kentucky Kingdom. When I first arrived at Kentucky Kingdom on Opening Day, I was honestly shocked by how many people were lined up at the front gate. There were multiple long lines waiting to get inside, and it was immediately clear that attendance was stronger than it had been for 2025’s opening. Even before stepping fully into the park, you could feel the excitement in the crowd. Everyone seemed to be taking in the new entrance plaza updates, the moon rock fountain, the bright green Flying Fox track crossing over pathways, and the general buzz of a new season beginning. Opening Day crowds were noticeably larger than last year, and the excitement at the front gate was easy to feel. Once I got inside, the park had a strong energy. The atmosphere felt upbeat, the music was pumping throughout the midway, and guests seemed genuinely happy to be back. At the same time, it did not take long to notice that operations...

Holiday World Platinum Passholder Preview Day 2026 Recap

Walking through the gates for Platinum Passholder Preview Day felt like the perfect start to the 2026 season. Holiday World’s Platinum Passholder Preview Day was an amazing way to kick off the 2026 season. From the moment I walked up to the entrance gates, I could not wait any longer to get inside. As soon as I entered the park, picked up my Platinum Season Pass magnet, and took in the entrance plaza, I felt like I was in paradise. All the stress I had been carrying around in my mind disappeared. For a few hours, it was all relaxation, fun, and the simple joy of being back at one of my favorite places. Even though it was raining off and on when I arrived, it did not take away from the day at all. If anything, it made finally being back feel even more special. After taking a few photos and videos around the entrance plaza, I headed into St. Nick’s Trading Company to see all of the new merchandise for Holiday World’s 80th Anniversary season, and that was one of the first big highl...
